An Old White Professor Speaks to the Class of 2020
A dose of reality for those who think they can change the world simply by following woke causes.
by Abraham H. Miller
This is an excerpt on slavery taken from Professor Miller’s commencement address. It is critical that all of history be taught. Our kids are being indoctrinated with selected and fabricated parts of history being taught. Education teaches all of history with its glory and gory details.
"Your generation thinks you have discovered the evils of racism and discrimination and that both are uniquely Western institutions.
Let me burst your bubble. There are few societies, if any, that have not practiced slavery, and more white people have been enslaved by North Africans than Africans by white people.
In 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams negotiated with Tripoli’s envoy to London, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman, over the enslavement of Americans. They asked Abdrahaman what right he had to seize slaves. He replied that his right was “founded on the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in their Koran.”
But if your teachers were to teach about that — assuming they would want to — political outrage and cries of Islamophobia would ensue, and they would be cowed into submission.
Two African kings, Tegesibu of Dahomey and Alvarez of the Congo, numbered among the richest men in the world in the early 18th century. Their wealth came from providing slaves to the Portuguese.
Slavery is evil in all its manifestations, whether the horror of the Middle Passage, the North African slave raids on Italy, or the Ottoman forays into the Slavic countries. The word itself comes from the Muslims of Andalusia (Spain) taking slaves from among Eastern European Slavic peoples.
And while your generation is marching, protesting, and calling for revolution because of the remnants of racism in this society, you need to be reminded that black chattel slavery, in all its ugly forms, is still alive and well in Libya in the 21st century.
So, when you say that racism and slavery are uniquely Western institutions, you are not simply wrong, you are pathetically ignorant."
A goal of the left, at least since the days of Woodrow Wilson, is to obliterate the United States Constitution. The left has been telling us since at least the days of Woodrow Wilson that the United States is a Democracy. Of course, we are not. We are a Republic. The left does not want the United States Constitution or its protections of rights for all including those who are not on the left.
As written in Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution, "[The President] shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.”
This is very straight language. The power of the president regarding Reprieves and Pardons is limited only to offenses against the United States and in cases of impeachment. Am I missing something?
“President Trump’s decision to commute the sentence of top campaign advisor Roger Stone, who could directly implicate him in criminal misconduct, is an act of staggering corruption," Pelosi said in a statement Saturday.
She added, "Congress will take action to prevent this type of brazen wrongdoing. Legislation is needed to ensure that no President can pardon or commute the sentence of an individual who is engaged in a cover-up campaign to shield that President from criminal prosecution."
Congress could pass any law they wanted, but constitutionally, the law to which Pelosi refers would be worthless, if we are to adhere to the Constitution and remain a Republic. The course of action available to Pelosi and the left would be a Constitutional amendment.
This is the very reason the left wants the Constitution obliterated and why they want the United States to be a Democracy. The Constitution does not regard political parties or the wishes or desires of an immediate and impulsive reaction. Democracies do not have constitutions and the will of the majority prevails with no concern for such things as rule of law, limitations on government, or rights of individuals. Democracies are dictatorships of the majority over the minority that quickly evolve into dictatorships of the few over the many.
This is the very reason the founders rejected a democracy for a Republic. They understood people like Pelosi and the left would at some time have power, and they feared them.
That the United States is on “THE ROAD TO TYRANNY” is a reality. We have been on this road for many decades, but the fundamental transformation movement has greatly advanced. The collectivist (Marxist, communist, socialist, progressive, Democrat, - all virtually the same) movement that promised to transform the United States was speeding down that road through the regime of Comrade and Islamist Jihad sympathizer Obama. It is critical that those who love freedom understand the destruction and devestation this ideology of collectivism, regardless of the specific descriptive term used, can not and has never brought prosperity, freedom, or advancement, but always has and must result in despair, depravity, devestation, and hopelessness.
The core requirements necessary for collectivism follow the same natural law as does gravity and that is to pull down as opposed to building. Karl Marx said that his society must be a classless society. All people would be the same. All people would live in the same manner as the next and all people would think alike. Differences of opinions and ideas would be banished. Those who were detected as having different ideas from the ideas demanded from all by the state or the collective must be banished or eliminated. They were viewed as a cancer that would spread through the so-called harmonious society.
This demand for total conformity, as we are seeing today from the collectivists in the United States and around the world, is a major reason the collectivist society fails. People are different with different thoughts, ideas, goals, and ambitions. The more conformity is demanded and accepted by the people the more restrictive the demands for conformity become. People who have that ingrained sense to be nonconformists, grow more and more rebellious and are dealt with in more and more outrageous ways. The social and economic advances become non-existent with the elimination of ideas which would become innovations. The society becomes more apathetic and spirals into more and more despair.
Another core requirement of the collectivist movement is the idea of equality, not as a starting point, but equality from start to finish and all along the way. This demand for equality and adherence to the basic rule of equality as stated by Karl Marx, “From each according to their ability to each according to their need” goes against human nature. What we have learned is those who have the ability to produce lose the desire to produce. When production goes down, those who receive according to their needs, demand at least as much as they were receiving when productivity was higher, and in most cases demand more and become more belligerent and outlandish in their demands.
As production declines, the general economic structure collapses which results in the destruction of the society as well. Crime becomes the way to exist, and society truly results in a survival of the fittest. The society becomes a hopeless society and those who can, try to escape the society, despite the high risk of escaping.
The collectivist movement also becomes an immoral society. The collectivist movement demands that all values taught to children be the values of the state. In order to accomplish this goal, religion must be eliminated and the core family unit must be destroyed. The collectivist understands that in an immoral society, the family unit decays and is ultimately destroyed. Depravity becomes the norm. There is no difference between right or wrong. There is no respect for fellow citizens or their property. The voluntary adherence to law and order so necessary for any society to function is ignored. Immorality of all kinds runs its normal course and destroys.
It is this very movement of collectivism that is being championed by the Democrat party and their affiliates such as BLM and ANTIFA. The only way any collectivist movement has gained power is by destroying the society it seeks to control; to bring about dysfunction and chaos until the masses seek some form of normality and order and accept the demands for conformity, equality, and immorality demanded. The ensuing downfall is always blamed on the objectors, who are systematically demonized, destroyed, and ultimately eliminated.
The question that arises, would have to be from those who are Freedom Loving Americans, can we reverse this course. We Freedom Loving Americans are inherently optimistic and filled with hope. The answer is yes, we can prevail, but not by arguing and debating, not by belittling, not by spewing facts and logical arguments, but by learning what truly made the United States unique, understanding the core evils of this ideology of collectivism, and then becoming irate and tireless in “Setting Brushfires of Freedom.”
If you want to be a positive contributor to restoring freedom and liberty to the hearts and minds of Americans, you must become a positive force. Samuel Adams told us that all would be free if they valued freedom and valued it as they should. That is what we do when we become on keen on “Setting Brushfires of Freedom.” Please, please join me in this worthy and necessary effort.
Socialism enslaves people just like we have witnessed throughout the world for years with other forms of slavery. Great Britain was a proponent of slavery and prohibited the Northern colonies from outlawing slavery. After the colonies declared their independence, many of the Northern Colonies did outlaw slavery while those in the South continued the practice that has existed from the beginning time to this very day. Slavery has always been practiced in the Muslim world and is still practiced today. People are bought and sold with many of the young girls and boys being bought and sold for sexual purposes.
Slavery is the condition in which one person is owned as property by another and is under the owner's control, especially in involuntary servitude. A broader definition of slavery would be the demand for the submission of one to the dominating influence of another.
The common definition of socialism is any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. Understand that the most important means of production and distribution in any society is people. Socialism requires the submission of people, the most important means of production and distribution, to the dominating influence of the collective or the state.
We must always remember that socialism is collectivism and collectivism is simply an all-encompassing term for Marxism, communism, socialism, progressive, Democrat, which are all virtually the same. The common and essential element for all of these is the requirement that all individuals subjugate their will, desires, and ambitions to the demands and requirements of the state or the collective.
Karl Marx stated that his society would be a classless society. He explained that in a classless society all would conform to one doctrine or all would agree on all issues, and all would be equal, primarily economically, but also socially. The fundamental principle of the Socialist classless society was that all would work and produce to the best of their abilities and the productive results would be divided according to the will of the state with each receiving based on their needs. In the example Marx used in the Critique of the Gotha program, the state was included in each, but the state would receive first and what was left would go to the people.
In the United States today, the divide is between those who are advocating for socialism and those who are advocating for the principles upon which our nation was founded which is in a single descriptive term, individualism. Individualism is when people are free and encouraged to dream big and then strive for those dreams.
Those who are advocating for socialism, which includes groups such as Antifa, BLM, The Democrat Party, and other groups on the left are also saying they oppose slavery and wish to punish those who in any way had anything to do with slavery in early America. Yes, they are saying our laws and ideas should apply on an ex post facto basis.
These same socialist are proclaiming their ideas against slavery, not because they oppose slavery, but because they believe they can use the argument to bring about socialism (collectivism) which historically has been the most damaging and brutal form of slavery imposed on people. Under the system of socialism, more people have died and suffered from starvation, from the ravishes of poverty, from the enforcement of conformity and equality by the state, than any other form of governance be it as a state or as an elite privileged ruler under the state.
I implore all Freedom Loving Americans to learn and understand the real history of the United States and why our wise and flawed founders instituted such a unique nation. I also implore you to understand the evil that is collectivism and how and why it always destroys. Individualism has always built and advanced society for all while collectivism has always destroyed and brought about poverty and misery for the masses. This is a fact and just as gravity always works so does the truism that individualism always builds, and collectivism always destroys.
When you understand this, you can begin to be an effective part of the irate and tireless group that is keen on “Setting Brushfires of Freedom” by asking questions of those who would claim they support socialism and oppose slavery or any form thereof.
We are in the middle of a revolution. The one side is calling for a transformation of the United States. The transformation they seek is to have the United States become a Marxist state. In a Marxist state the people are told how they can live their lives and what they must think. When the Marxist party declares that all must follow their dictates to bring about social justice as they define social justice, any who do not conform will be demonized, shunned, excluded, and yes eliminated. The only law that exists is the law as defined by the Marxist party. The concept of Ex Post Facto is totally discarded. If the Marxist party declares something illegal or immoral today, you are held guilty if you committed the act yesterday, last year, last decade, and now we are learning even last century.
At the heart of this revolution is the idea of what are Natural Rights and from where do those rights come. When the United States was founded, we adopted the unique idea that Natural Rights come from God and not from government. This idea was not unique because of the truth of the idea, but because no country had ever founded their society on this truth. All nations had accepted that government controlled all rights. Autocrats have demanded that people adhere to the concept they are assuming the role of God and Marxists believe God does not exist and therefore the role of God falls to the Marxist party.
Although Natural Rights are commonly referred to as Live, Liberty, and Property or Pursuit of Happiness, our Declaration of Independence correctly recognized that Natural Rights extend beyond these stated when Thomas Jefferson stated that amongst these Natural Rights are.........
Under whose control do Natural Rights fall is at the core of the revolution in which we are now engaged. This has been a struggle in the United States for years. The most basic Natural Right is that of life. Who is allowed to have life and who is denied life. Certainly, God is in ultimate control, but the Marxist movement has for years tried to assume some control. They were able to take that control in the United States when they circumvented the United States Constitution and achieved their goal through unconstitutional means. It was through the courts, who have no legislative or lawmaking authority, that the Marxist movement achieved a legal means to commit murder and end the lives of unborn children in the name of choice, because it is deemed that the child is an inconvenience. This same movement is making noises that the concept of choice should extend beyond the time of birth as well as being applied as people age and are deemed to be a liability as they age.
The Marxist movement is also attacking the concept of liberties being under the control of government. Today our liberty of speech is being curtailed and completely restricted when it is determined by the Marxist party to be politically incorrect and what they term as hate speech. Our right to assemble is now based on whether or not the purpose of the assembly is to further the Marxist movement or if it is to oppose the Marxist movement. Assembly to oppose is now being outlawed. Our liberty to practice our religion is now prohibited and when it is again allowed, the Biblical command to make a joyful noise to the lord is threatened.
The Natural Right of property or the pursuit of happiness is being restricted. Many of the Marxists are defining how we are to use the property, when we can do business from the property, and even demanding we pay rent to the state for the property we supposedly own. Our personal incomes are now considered property of the state and it is the state that tells us how much of our income we can keep. Even the right for us to pursue our dreams is being limited if the state determines the achievement of our dreams would hurt the fragile ego of another.
We are in the midst of a revolution. It is critical that we who are Freedom Loving Americans do not accept that the Marxist party can dictate to us how we are to live our lives and how we are to think. When we accept that government in deed has the right to control, limit, or abolish our Natural Rights that do come from our Creator, than we have accepted total conformity to the Marxist dictates and have willingly become a servant to the state.
Whether or not the United States will remain a Republic with the principle that our Natural Rights, Life, Liberty, and Property or as Thomas Jefferson stated, pursuit of happiness, is the question before us. Freedom Loving Americans state unequivocally that we do not want to transform our nation into a Marxist totalitarian state under the control of the “Dictatorship of the Proletariat.” The collectivists (Marxists, communists, socialists, progressives, Democrats, - all virtually the same) are telling us that indeed we must transform the United States to what Karl Marx called a classless society where all conform to the same politically correct mantras, and that is under the rule of the “Dictatorship of the Proletariat.”
We have loud and direct demands for this transformation. We have many on the left telling us that we must follow the call by Lenin when he stated, “No Marxist can deny that the interests of socialism are higher than the right of a nation to self-determination. The role of government is to implement socialism.” This is exactly what the left in the United States, camouflaged as the Democrat party, is demanding.
We were told by Comrade Michelle Obama on May 14, 2008 that. “We are going to have to change our conversation: we are going to have to change our traditions, our history; we are going to have to move into a different place as a nation.”
This is what was happening under the guise of government from 2009 through 2017 and was intended to continue in the same manner with the sure election of Hillary Clinton. That we would change our conversation under the demand for political correctness, change our history by blatantly rewriting it, and to change our place as a nation to a Marxist totalitarian state under the firm control of the “Dictatorship of the Proletariat.”
The election of 2016 happened, and the transformation ran into a road bump. The Democrat party and their fellow collectivists immediately implemented the change our traditions part of Comrade Michelle’s declaration and the attack on the tradition of peaceful transfer of power was now the target. This is what has consumed the collectivists. In order for them to move the United States into a different place, they must change the tradition of peaceful transfer of power.
They have used the China virus, knowing that their draconian policies would kill people and destroy the lives of many others, to do what they believe is the role of government; and that is to do as Lenin stated, implement socialism.
Freedom Loving Americans, the biggest threat the United States has ever faced in our history is the current promise by the Democrats and their fellow collectivists, and that is to do as Comrade Barack Obama Promised on October 30, 2008, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.
Ivelisse Correa of Hartford said her 4th of July plans do not include fireworks or a celebration of America’s independence.
“It’s pretty generally felt that July 4th is not for us,” said Michael Oretade, the head of Black Lives Matter 860 in Hartford. “In reality, Black independence is never really been fulfilled.”
“We’re going to talk about how the system has treated us and ways that we need to fight the system,” said Oretade.
Oh yes, we will have a July 4th in 2021, but will we have an Independence Day. Independence Day is celebrated in the United States of America to honor the Declaration of Independence, a document that declared the colonies would be free from the rule of Great Britain because Great Britain was a tyrannical government dictating to the colonists how they must live their lives, even how they must think. Within the document entitled “The Declaration of Independence” the colonists stated that government has no right to control, limit, or abolish our rights bestowed upon us by the Creator including but not limited to those of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, or Property. The colonists also state that government has only the power given to it by the people.
Today, we have people in the United States that strongly disagree with the basic principles that defined our independence. Many of these groups are using race as the excuse to cause the unrest necessary to return the nation that grew from the original thirteen colonies into what we now know as the United States of America comprised of 50 states. These people who disagree are calling for a transformation of the United States of America from a Republic based on Natural Rights given to us by God into a Marxist totalitarian state under the “Dictatorship of the Proletariat” that is an all demanding government that endorses and demands total conformity to one form of thought. All movements calling for this transformation have followed the dictate of Karl Marx that all current systems must be destroyed and then rebuilt in the image of the Marxist, which is a classless society that is totally equal and conforms to the party line. There is no room for independent thought within the Marxist state.
If the leftist movement is successful in the November elections, and they will use every means possible to have the most votes, the likelihood of the United States celebrating Independence Day based on the principles of the Declaration of Independence will be extremely low. Conformity and adherence to the party line will be called justice and that is what will be proclaimed as worthy of celebrating.
If the leftist movement fails in the November election to manufacture enough votes to take control, those of us who believe in the principles of the Declaration of Independence will not have won the war, we will only have been given a short four years to make substantial progress to restoring the spirit in the American public critical to us resisting the transformation movement. We should look upon this time, if it happens, as Trenton and not Yorktown.
Karl Marx, in the Critique of the Gotha Program, described exactly what our current position is when he said, “Between any Capitalist and Communist society there lies the period of the revolutionary transformation of the one into the other. Corresponding to this is also a political transition period in which the state can be nothing but the revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat.”
Samuel Adams also described the current position of the United States when he declared, “It is now high time for the people of this country to explicitly declare whether they will be free men or slaves.”
Are you willing to explicitly declare? Many on the left have explicitly declared they want to be slaves. If you explicitly declare you want to be free, then you have explicitly declared you will immediately become a part of the irate and tireless minority keen on, “Setting Brushfires of Freedom.”
Learn what that means and how you can become a warrior for freedom and liberty.
July 4th is a day that means fun and games to many people. Some might even wave a flag and wear red, white, and blue, but they have no idea what the significance of the day is. They ooh and ah when the fireworks explode and even join in the cheering at the end of the program. Unfortunately, these are mostly collectivists (Marxists, communists, socialists, progressives, Democrats, all virtually the same) living in the United States. Everything they believe is the opposite of why we celebrate Independence Day.
Independence Day is just that, the day the United States celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. It was through this document that the American Colonists said we declare we are free from the tyranny of government and the demand that we conform to one way of thought. The Declaration of Independence states that we the people now recognize that our Natural Rights of Live, Liberty, and Property or as Thomas Jefferson stated, the Pursuit of Happiness comes from God. Government has no right to control, limit, or abolish our Life, Liberty, and Property, or Pursuit of Happiness. Please, contemplate that for a minute and then do a count and notice just how many ways the Collectivists now demand that government control our Life, Liberty, and Property or Pursuit of Happiness.
Independence Day also celebrates the day we the people declared that we would now be sovereign, and government would be the servant. The Declaration of Independence states that the government, as servant receives its power from we the people.
The Declaration of Independence said that the rights of the individual are protected and no longer does the individual have to conform to the dictates of the collective or the state.
Collectivists celebrate July 4th. Individualists celebrate Independence Day. Which do you celebrate??
Stupid things are based on the stupid and destructive concept of political correctness.
Undocumented immigrant is stupid. Legal or not legal is not based on how we phrase a concept, but did you or did you not break the law.
Saying something is hate speech is stupid. If I call you a moron, it is perhaps hate speech to you but it is truth to me.
Black lives matter is stupid. When we start to designate that skin color determines if you matter or not we have reached the point of extreme racism and frankly stupidity.
Save lives, wear a mask is stupid. Never have I seen anything so stupid as a person sitting on the beach with all the wonderful fresh air, but they, the stupid person is wearing a mask.
Lock downs saved lives is stupid. Facts and numbers prove that lockdowns have caused not only much hardship but caused the loss of life. If the lockdown saves just one life, it is worth it, is one of the most stupid statements perhaps ever uttered.
Reparation payments must be paid is stupid. Those making this stupid statement are doing it because they want to gain politically, or they want to drive home victim hood. Both are selfish motivations, stupid and destructive. If we follow this inane logic, everybody will have to pay reparations for something and receive reparations for something else. Grow up.
Statues must be destroyed because the individual was imperfect is stupid. First of all, there are no perfect people. Second, if you do not like the statue, do not look, but stop the stupidity.
Nominating a person with Dementia that becomes visibly more severe daily is not only stupid, but it is cruel and the highest form of disrespect.
We can go on and on, but perhaps the most stupid thing I have seen is this:
England’s historic St. Albans Cathedral has said that in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, it will install a painting that reimagines Jesus Christ as a black man above its altarpiece.
And this in a church that by implication would believe the Bible which teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. The Bible also clearly states that Jesus, when he was on earth in human form, was born to a Jewish mother. Jesus was Jewish, if you believe the Bible, historic St. Albans Cathedral. We have no indication in the Bible if his skin tone was darker or lighter, only that he was a Jew. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the second deity in the trinity, is God. The Bible never refers to those in the family of God as American family members, white family members, black family members, European family members, but as members of the family of God who have all become members in exactly the same manner; they have confessed with their mouth and believed in their heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that this same Jesus was crucified as a sacrifice for our sins and rose from the dead in victory over death. Only because our sins have been paid for by the blood of Christ are we members of the family.
It is stupid and blasphemy to use Christ in any way for political purposes and gain. Christ tells us, his purpose was to be the sacrificial lamb for us, and he did it because only he could.
Every individual who believes in the concept that each individual has the right to life, liberty, and property, is facing a vicious assault on the fundamental principle that made the Untied States a unique nation. Our Declaration of Independence correctly tells us that these natural rights are endowed or given to us by God. That means government has no right to control, limit, or abolish those rights of life, liberty, and property, or as Thomas Jefferson stated, the pursuit of happiness.
In the United States there is a transformation movement that claims the United States must transform from a nation that professes all are entitled to life, liberty, and property, and become a nation that transforms the role of government from merely being a protector of those rights for the individual, but that the government has complete and total control to limit or abolish those rights as it believes is best. This is saying that the United States must transform from an Individualist nation where the rights of the individual are protected, to a collectivist nation where the rights of the individual are subjugated to the demands of the collective or the state.
The transformation movement, a key plank in the Democrat Party platform, is proudly declaring that the United States must transform from a nation where people have freedoms and liberties protected by a constitution to a totalitarian state where the reigning sovereign dictates what if any rights or liberties an individual might have. This movement has been in place for many decades, but has gained strong momentum as our school system has been transformed from an education system to an indoctrination system, and our families are systematically being destroyed as the state insists that values taught to children are values proclaimed by the state and not the parents or the church.
When you ask yourself if the struggle is worth the effort, I would propose you are asking the wrong question. I would propose the question we must ask ourselves as Individualists and Freedom Loving Americans is can we do anything but give an unfaltering effort to retain natural rights as outlined in the Declaration of Independence and freedoms and liberties as defined in the Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights.
The opinion is not only my opinion, but more importantly is the same as that held by the Father of the Revolution, Samuel Adams. Samuel Adams told us:
“The truth is, all might be free if they valued freedom, and defended it as they ought.” The Democrat party is telling people there is no value in freedom. It is our job to be about “Setting Brushfires of Freedom.”
“The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.” The Democrat Party is the "false and designing men wresting from us our freedoms and liberties." We were charged that we must always be about “Setting Brushfires of Freedom.”
Please declare openly and proudly that you will, along with Samuel Adams and me, be about always “Setting Brushfires of Freedom.” Do it unceasingly.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
