Americans have known little about the evils of collectivism (Marxism, communism, socialism, progressives, Democrats, - all virtually the same). We have always believed that free people would never want to become slaves to the dictates of a totalitarian state. We are learning that many in the United States have been indoctrinated to believe social justice and equality means freedom and liberty when they have always led to slavery to a dictatorial and tyrannical state.
The one good thing that might have happened because of the school closures, is that parents were directly confronted with how the schools were indoctrinating their children that Marxism was superior to individual liberty and individual rights. These parents could no longer deny that the school’s agenda had become a political agenda and not an educational agenda. This political agenda was being mandated by the Marxist movement. The Democrat party, the woke group, the Teacher’s unions, along with all collectivist sympathizers were simply implementing the long-held collectivist belief that the values taught to children should be the values of the state and not the values of the parent.
Friedrich Engels wrote in The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State, “With the passage of the means of production into common property, the individual family ceases to be the economic unit of society. The care and education of the children becomes a public matter.” This was the policy pursued by the early Bolsheviks. Zlata Lilina proclaimed, “We must rescue these children from the nefarious influence of family life. Our task now is to oblige the mother to give her children to us – to the Soviet state.” Another early Bolshevik functionary, M.N. Liadov asked, “Is it possible to bring up collective man in an individual family? Every conscientious father and mother must say: if we want our child to be liberated from that philistinism which is present in each of us, he must be isolated from ourselves... The sooner the child is taken from his mother and given over to a public nursery, the greater is the guarantee that he will be healthy.”
These calls for the state to become the primary influencer of the child has prevailed for decades in the United States. This became the purpose of public schools under the influence of John Dewey. We saw the push for the state influence to begin even earlier than kindergarten under Comrade Obama with his continued calls for free pre-school for all children.
We have witnessed an outcry by many parents who are joining forces and telling their school boards that the role of the school is not to indoctrinate the child but to educate the child. We have heard the outcry against the LGBT movement infiltrating the schools and recruiting kids to their cause. This outcry has extended to the idea that children as young as five should be told that there are many genders, and they can choose to be the gender they want to be. The outcry became even greater when the parents learned that their children were being taught to hate children of different races just because the child was of a different race. White children were being taught that they were naturally evil and hateful simply because their skin was white. Black and brown skinned children were being taught that they were inferior to the white child and were victims of the hateful superior white child and therefore they must hate all white kids, even those with whom they had become good friends.
This outcry is showing some results. A Virginia school board rejected a policy from the state's Education Department that requires administrators to call students by pronouns reflecting their chosen gender identity rather than their biological pronouns. The Russell County school board unanimously voted to reject the state's mandatory changes to the transgender policy after residents voiced their opposition to the new guidelines for transgender students.
We are watching as many state legislatures are outlawing the demented and Marxist teaching of the theory that is called “critical race theory”. Some school boards and teacher groups, not the unions, are also calling for this evil and hateful theory to be excluded from their curriculum.
Your voices and demands to school boards, to state legislatures, to everybody, will bring results. Your determination and commitment to be the parent of your child and to not relinquish this critical role, must be persistent and loud. The movement for the state to be your child’s parent is assuring that your child will live in a country with a dictatorial and Marxist tyrannical state. No loving parent could want that for their child or any child.
