WHY WE WERE FOUNDED AS A REPUBLIC AND NOT A DEMOCRACY

I cringe when I hear people who claim to be Americans say that we must protect our democracy. They either do not understand what they are saying, or they are not Americans, they are part of the American Left, and truly do want to not only protect our democracy but to enhance democracy by further eroding our Republic.
There are critical differences between democracies and republics. Voting for representatives is not one of them. Our founders understood the differences and overwhelmingly chose to become a republic, rejecting and denouncing democracy. Some in the American Left, those who are committed to transforming the United States to a Marxist totalitarian state, understand the differences and are committed to transforming the United States to a true democracy.
Our founding fathers explained that they did not want a democracy because a democracy is mob rule. They went on to explain that they reject democracy because democracy is dictatorship, it is dictatorship of the majority over the minority that quickly becomes dictatorship of the few over the many. Lenin understood democracy as he explained that democracy is essential to socialism and socialism is the gateway to communism. Yes, the American Left understands the differences between republic and democracy, and this is why they are so committed to transforming the United States to a democracy with their end goal being communism.
In a republic there is an understood or written law that cannot be changed by a simple dictate or vote. Our founders chose that we would be a Constitutional Republic with our law wrtitten. This means that the Constitution is the Supreme law of the land. The only way the Supreme law can be altered is through a time consuming and arduous process. This was intentional. The founders understood that the Constitution should not be amended based on emotion but only after long and careful thought.
Our founders also acknowledge and stated that our liberties come from God and not from government. They so stated in the Declaration of Independence. The people felt so strongly that they insisted that some of these liberties must be explicitly stated and protected, liberties such as speech, religion, assembly, the press, petitioning the government, due process, equal treatment under the law, are some of the stated liberties. The founders also understood that all of the intended liberties could not be enumerated, so they added the 9th amendment to the Constitution.
In a democracy, the majority, those in power, or the dictator is the ultimate law. The dictator has the power to change the law, to ignore the law, or to make new law at anytime and with no limitations or restrictions. In addition, it is the dictator who is the final arbiter as to what is a liberty and to whom the liberty is extended. The dictator has no limitation or restrictions in these declarations.
In a republic, all citizens must be treated equally under the law. In a republic, lady liberty is blind and does not see wealth, political position, societal position, race, creed, or any other differences. This is commonly referred to a “rule of law.”
In a democracy, the majority, those in power, or the dictator can not only declare what the law is, but they can also declare to whom the law applies. They can state for instance, that people violating stated laws can be declared innocent of breaking any law because of their reasons or intentions when breaking the law. The majority, those in power, or the dictator can also state that an action that did not break the law at the time of the action, can at a later time be declared to be in violation of the law because the majority, those in power, or the dictator decreed it is.
In a republic, in a free nation, the burden of proof always falls on the government or the prosecutor. When a charge is made, the defendant does not have to provide any defense, and must be declared innocent unless the government or prosecutor proves guilt. In a democracy the burden of proof falls on the defendant. The government or prosecutor brings the charge, and the defendant must prove their innocence to the satisfaction of the government or prosecutor.
In a republic, it is the government that is established to serve the people. The people have given to the government certain powers and duties. The powers and duties the American people gave to our government are enumerated in the Constitution of the United States in Article 1 and Section 8. The government, under a republic, has no authority to assume any additional power or duty.
In a democracy, the people are servants to the government. The majority, those in power, the dictator, declare what powers, duties, and privileges it will bestow on the people. The majority, those in power, the dictator can bestow different powers, duties, and privileges based on classes of people or even certain individuals, based on nothing more than because I want to. We commonly see those who conform to the dictates of the majority, those in power, the dictator receives special privileges, while the opposite is true for the non-conformist.
The more and more we understand the differences between republic and democracy, the more and more we understand why our founders were so adamant that we be formed as a republic and that we adhere to the principles of a republic. Our Founders were a people who had sacrificed much to be free from the tyranny of the majority, those in power, a dictator.
The more and more we understand the differences between republic and democracy, the more and more we understand why the American left is calling us a democracy, is transforming us into a democracy, is rejecting any principle of republic. We understand that the American left understands, as did Lenin, that democracy brings socialism and socialism is the gateway to communism. The American left has sworn it will transform the United States to a Marxist totalitarian state. The first step is to transform the United Sates from a republic to a democracy.
