That the American colonists won their freedom from Great Britain was a miracle. There is no way that should have happened. Great Britain had all the odds in their favor. The only thing favoring the American colonists was their fervent desire to be free from any government dictating to the individual how they were to live their lives and what their thoughts were to be. After that improbable victory, these very progressive (yes, the colonists were progressive in that they wanted to change their government from a government that controlled the daily life of an individual to be a government subservient to the individual) colonists drafted a Constitution for the specific purpose of protecting the rights of the individual, rights endowed by the Creator and not by man nor government. Never had that position been taken before. Yes, people like Locke had discussed this concept, but nobody had applied this truth.
These forward-looking people said they would establish a government, understanding that that government would be the single biggest threat to those freedoms they had just won, so they must do everything they could to protect those freedoms from that government. The founders understood that in order to protect those freedoms they must establish a government where the law was the ruler and not an individual who could change the law indiscriminately to advance an ideology through regulation, executive action, or court rulings. They understood big government always dominates the individuals and since our nation would be a nation protecting the rights of the individual, government must be limited. We would also have a divided government because they knew that concentrated power enabled the government to trample on individual rights. The Constitution made the people the sovereign of this new nation and those in government would be servants of that sovereign. The principles upon which our nation was founded are being challenged as never before. Those who are referred to as being on the left are advocating that the experiment the American colonists started, has failed. Those on the left are declaring that the rights of the individual are not rights endowed by the Creator but are rights that man and government have given and thus have the power to limit. Those on the left are advocating that individuals who would disagree with the ideology of the left must not be heard but must be silenced. The left believes all must conform to one thought pattern, and rather than encouraging debate and an exchange of ideas they employ the methods of demagoguery. The progressive colonists established a government that encouraged individuals to aspire to their full potential by continuing the American capitalist system that started in Jamestown and Plymouth. This system requires that the free market is allowed to pick winners and losers and not those in government. The role of government in the American capitalist system must be very limited. What time has proven is the more limited the role of government is, the more efficiently capitalism works. When capitalism is allowed to function without interference, productivity increases, poverty decreases, and the living standard for all increases. The founders said we would have power in the United States divested. They understood that when power is concentrated, the rights of the individual are limited and the role of the collective increases forcing all to conform to what the ruling party deems proper. Concentrated power always leads to a government that determines it is their right to tell the individual how they are to live their lives, what their thoughts are to be. The founders also understood that rule by majority always led to a dictatorial government with the rights of the individual being eliminated when they do not conform to the ideology of the majority. This is the reason our nation is a republic and not a true democracy where the majority believes it is their right to grant or curtail those rights our founders stated where rights endowed by the Creator. The American colonist was willing to pay whatever price they had to pay to live as free individuals; individuals who determined how they were to live their own lives, what their thoughts were to be. It was the intent of these progressive minded people to protect those rights for all future Americans when they drafted the United States Constitution. These brave people understood if we continued to adhere to the principles within the Constitution we would remain a free people, free from the dictates of big government. We have a very meaningful midterm election in less than a month. The consequences of this election are enormous. The left is advocating we regress to a people without individual rights and that we adhere to the dictates of big government. The left believes we all conform to one way of thinking and not be individuals living our own lives and having our own thoughts. The left is telling us that the principles in our Constitution are outdated; that in fact arbitrary law as opposed to rule of law, big government as opposed to limited government, concentrated power, preferably in the courts, and not divided government, and a sovereign government with we the people being servants to that government is in our best interest. The elites of the left believe all will be better when they, through government, dictate how each of us is to live our lives, what our thoughts are to be. The right contends that the American colonist understood that freedom depends on each individual being free to live their own lives, to have their own thoughts. The right believes that the role of government is to protect those rights endowed upon us by our Creator and not to control or eliminate them. The right understands the role of government should be limited and restricted, and is not charged with the responsibility of picking winners or losers, but allowing winners and losers to be determined by the content of their character as stated by Martin Luther King, Jr. When you cast your vote, understand the consequences of that vote. A vote for a candidate of the right is a vote to remain free from the dictates and tyranny of government. You would be standing with our founders who were willing to pay the ultimate price, so you could still cast that vote. A vote for a candidate of the left is a vote to regress to the dictatorial and tyrannical government our founders fought so they could be free as individuals and exercise those rights endowed to us by our Creator. Simply put, a vote for the right is a vote for individual freedom so the individual can determine how they are to live their life and what their thoughts are to be. A vote for the left is a vote for arbitrary law, big government, concentrated power, and a sovereign government where those in government dictate how each individual is to live their life and what their thoughts are to be. IT IS YOUR CHOICE. REMEMBER THE CONSEQUENCES.
