Reagan was a man of character and veracity. The one” front runner” has been embroiled in controversy after controversy ever sense she entered public life. Her biggest determinant is her lack of believably. The other “front runner” refuses to take responsibility for comments he has made that are on video such as his denigration of women and his calling for violence like hitting people in the face.
Reagan was also a person of decency. Reagan never referred to his opponents with personal insults. Reagan had the decency to allow others on a debate stage to complete their thoughts and then would respond. Reagan never attacked the spouse or children of another candidate or of anybody that I recall. Reagan never personally attacked and smeared people in the press because they would ask what he considered a difficult question and then have the proof that their question had validity. Reagan did not belittle women, the handicapped, or others.
Reagan was a person you would only hope your children would emulate. He was a person who respected others and others respected. He was a person who did not differentiate between what was classified material and what was “marked” classified material. He was not a person who would not try to manipulate the American people by using the BBB grade of a new company to hide the BBB failing grade of a company the new one replaced and is being sued for fraud.
Reagan was a conservative long before he even considered running for president. Reagan’s transformation began about 25 years before he began his first presidential campaign. In October of 1947 Reagan testified before the House UN-American Activities committee. In the later 50’s to early 60’s Reagan was giving his free enterprise and limited government General Electric speeches. Reagan was the California Chairman for Goldwater for President in 1964 and on October 27, 1964
Reagan gave his famous “A Time for Choosing” speech for the Goldwater campaign. Reagan became the most demanded speaker for conservatism and was known as the leading force of conservatism. Reagan did not run for president until 1976.
Others would like us to believe that the one current “front runner” is now a conservative and his transformation is much like Reagan’s. Reagan truly was a conservative. Both of the current “front runners” supported TARP, STIMULUS, Obama in his first term, Obamacare, and they both advocated negotiating with Iran. They both believed that the then Secretary of State was the best person for the job. The “front runner” who claims to be a conservative, even said it would be good if the banks became nationalized. This is directly from Karl Marx. Neither of the current “front runners” have denounced any of these positions other than the “conservative” has said he would prefer Obamacare be changed to a truly universal health plan like Canada’s.
Those of you who want to, or feel compelled to support one of the two current “front runners” are certainly free to do so. Two things however, they are both very similar in character, veracity, and domestic policy other than immigration. Neither of them has anything in common with Reagan and should in no way be compared to Reagan other than to draw a sharp contrast between progressive versus conservative, and true statesman versus sleazy politician.
