The heart of the Conservative philosophy would use history to show that government has proved to be the chief instrument for thwarting man’s liberty. Government represents power in the hands of some to control and regulate the lives of others. And power corrupts.
There are a number of ways in which the power of government can be measured. One is the size of its governments financial operations, or government spending. Another would be the scope of government activities. A recent study found that the federal government is now the biggest land owner, property manager, renter, mover and hauler, medical clinician, lender, insurer, mortgage broker, employer, debtor, taxer, and spender in all history.
Another measurement of government power is the extent of government interference id the daily lives of individuals. The wage earner is at the mercy of the consequences of federal legislation, the business person is hampered and controlled by a maze of government regulations, and all individuals have their lives controlled by regulations on education, health care and health coverage, retirement, food, and literally 24-hour surveillance.
Our founders intended to protect their freedom and the freedom of all American citizens by limiting the power of the federal government. The Conservative believes less government is always better government, both in control of the daily activities of all citizens and the spending of the government.
The Marxist/Progressive believes that it is the responsibility and the duty of government to control all facets of the lives of the individuals. They also believe, as Marx told them, that government should receive the total GNP and then the government would distribute these funds based on “need.”
The true Conservative believes that the federal government has no authority to be involved in the health coverage or health care of any citizen. If government is to be involved in health care or health coverage, it would have to be at the state level. Obamacare was a major move to have all health care and health coverage dictated by the federal government, greatly expanding the power of government, both in the lives of the individual and the spending by the government. Conservatives and Pseudo Conservatives have been promising that Obamacare would be repealed if they were ever given the power to do just that.
The American voter gave the Republicans the power to fulfill their promise. The true Conservatives have said that Obamacare should be totally repealed and the federal government should no longer be involved in the health care or the health coverage of the individual. The Pseudo Conservatives have been explaining how their Ryancare is somehow a repeal of this intrusive government power. Ryan and his fellow Pseudo Conservatives are doing all the double talk possible to try to convince the American public that Ryancare is a fulfillment of their promise. In fact, Ryancare is nothing more than a remake of Obamacare and maintains the government power grabbed by Obamacare. The Conservative will oppose anything but a complete repeal while the Pseudo Conservative will do double talk while justifying the government power grab of Obamacare.
The Trump administration has proposed a budget that has not been seen for years, if ever. The Trump administration has proposed actual spending cuts. Typically, a lesser increase than what had been proposed had been called a cut. This proposed budget says that a cut is spending less this year than what was spent last year.
Among the cuts would be the Department of Housing and Urban Development would be cut by $6.2 billion or 13.2%, Department of Transportation would be cut by $2.4 billion or 12.7%, the Department of Health and Human Services would be cut by $12.6 billion or 16.2%, Department of Education would be cut by $9 billion or 13.5%, and EPA would be cut by $2.6 billion or 31.4%. Other actual cuts are also being proposed for duplicate programs, unnecessary, and unconstitutional programs.
The Conservative will support every cut and advocate for more. The Pseudo Conservative will explain why these cuts are dangerous and detrimental to the well-being of the American public. The Pseudo Conservative will sound like the Marxist/Progressive, because a Pseudo Conservative supports a bigger government, both in control over the lives of the citizens and spending.
We Freedom Loving Americans believe in freedom and liberty of the individual and minimal government spending. Ronald Reagan was correct when he told us, “Government is not the solution, government is the problem.” All Americans will now have the opportunity to learn the true beliefs of their government representatives, as well as who they really are. You can learn if you are a Pseudo Conservative or a Conservative.
Our founders understood that when they were forming our government, they were creating the single biggest threat to the freedom they had just won. The intent of the founders was to form a government that would preserve their freedom and the freedom of all future Americans. That is why the government that was formed was a limited government and a divided government. If freedom is to be preserved, we must return to limited government by reducing the power of government. We must also return to divided government; each branch must not usurp the power or authority of another branch.
Jefferson told us if the branches did assume the power and authority of the others, our government would not last. Henry told us that the Constitution was for the people to restrain the government so the government would not come to dominate the lives and the interests of the people.
Conservatives understand and support these principles. Marxist/Progressives and Pseudo Conservatives want a powerful government.
