This comment encouraged others like anti-racism advocate, DJ, and video blogger Jay Smooth, to come out in defense of Clinton’s remarks. The New York-based commentator asserted in a video blog post that, while he has his own issues with Clinton, her “basket of deplorables” comment was completely accurate.
He went further than Clinton herself, saying that all Trump supporters—if not fundamentally deplorable—indulge in “deplorable” behavior. “The Donald Trump campaign is a deplorable, racist phenomenon,” said Smooth, in the video. “That means everyone, everyone who is supporting the Donald Trump campaign is being deplorable and supporting something racist.”
Others throughout history have used these types of tactics to build hate and resentment against their political opponents. Typically, it is this kind of labeling that allows those who are doing the labeling to create serious factions within a society. Once those factions have been created and the hate associated with these tactics is built to a crescendo, the politician is able to build an irrational loyalty of their followers.
This irrational loyalty to an individual is what has enabled those with dictatorial aspirations to consolidate their power that allows them to build the type of society they advocate. When this happens, the results are always devastating for a free society.
These were the comments made by Hillary describing her idea of a Collectivist society when she spoke to the LGBT for Hillary Gala in New York City.
"In too many places still, LGBT Americans are singled out for harassment and violence. You can get married on Saturday, post your pictures on Sunday and get fired on Monday. That's why we've got to continue the forward march of progress."
"And we cannot do it alone. I cannot do it alone. I'm not like Donald Trump, who says, 'I alone can fix it.' I've never quite figured out what it is he alone can fix. But that's not what you'll hear from me. I think we have to do this together. So, together we're gonna pass the Equality Act to guarantee full equality. We're going to put comprehensive quality affordable healthcare within reach for more people, including for mental health and addiction. We're going to take on youth homelessness, and as my wonderful, extraordinary, great daughter said, we are going to end the cruel and dangerous practice of conversion therapy. We're going to keep working toward an AIDS-free generation, a goal that I set as secretary of state, and with your help we're going to pass comprehensive gun laws. ..."
What Hillary is doing is not unique. Here are how others have labeled their opponents. The dehumanization and objectification of political adversaries as preparation and justification for mass murder came into sharp focus as an effective weapon during the French Revolution of 1793, the Russian Revolution of 1917, and in China in 1966.
