What I heard was vastly different from what the pundits heard, be it pro or con Trump. It was a shame to see the press spend so much time on meaningless things like Melanie Trumps speech. I was impressed with Melanie. I had a neutral view point of her and came away impressed. The rest of the convention was not as great as the pro Trump people would have us believe, nor was it nearly as disastrous as what the con Trump people would have us believe. The fact is that it will all but be forgotten on Monday.
My overall take away is that the Republican Party is a party in turmoil. Regardless of the outcome of the November election, if one is held, the only thing we know for sure is that the Republican Party is no longer the party of Goldwater or Reagan. It is not even the party of the Bushes. I do not believe anybody can identify what the party really is. If Trump wins, the party will be defined. If Trump loses the party will go through a complete overall and again its outcome is not known.
My personal hope is that an election is held and that Trump does win and that he redefines the party into the party it has claimed to be the last several years, but was not. That is the party will be redefined as the party that champions rule of law, limited government, divided government, and rule by the people. It is my hope that the Republican Party is that party that says they believe that individuals should be independent and self-reliant. This would be a party that says the responsibility of government is to protect its citizens from outside invaders and to provide an atmosphere where all citizens have equal opportunity, but does not guarantee outcome.
We know that if we do not have an election, or if Hilary wins, we will continue down the Marxist path of having a country that adheres to arbitrary law, big government, concentrated power, and government rule with the people as the servants. The fundamental transformation, the one that transforms the United States into a Marxist totalitarian state, will be continued and probably competed under Hillary or Obama. The praises of Marxism and government control will be sung at the Democrat (Marxist/Progressive) convention. The Democrats (Marxist/Progressives) will explain all the reasons it is best for government to make all decisions for the people. They will explain why the economy and all other aspects of our lives must be controlled and dictated. This is what they have done ever since the days of FDR. They have set us on a course of destruction and that course will be continued.
The Republican convention was not defining. The Democrat (Marxist/Progressive) convention has already been defined. The fate of our nation is not known. I still believe if we Freedom Loving Americans care enough and are willing to assume the same desire for freedom as the colonists did, we will prevail under any circumstances and the bells of freedom will once again ring in the land of the free.
