The American Revolution was fought because a minority of colonists believed so strongly in personal responsibility, independence, and liberty that they were willing to risk fortune and their lives in the pursuit of them. These Freedom Loving Americans declared war on the most powerful nation in the world at that time, Great Britain, so they could be free from what they considered to be a stifling tyranny. These Freedom Loving Americans understood the chances of them winning the war were not good, and yet they were willing to sacrifice all, if that is what it took. These same Freedom Loving Americans were people of outstanding character and immense veracity, who took responsibility for their decisions and their actions.
After their victory, they understood they must have some form of government, but realized that any government they formed would be the single biggest threat to the freedom they had just won. In order to try to protect themselves from this enemy, government, they adopted the concept of Individualism, which includes rule by the people. They also established a nation under rule of law, with limited and divided government.
Through the course of time, future Americans determined it was in the best interest of the country if the President was elected in a more direct manner. Instead of having the states determine who the electors would be that would cast the votes for President, the people determined it would be best if the people voted directly for those electors, thus giving the people direct control over who would be their President.
This has resulted in some interesting elections and some very questionable Presidents, including the current one. The direct election of the President by the people has also allowed for the press to have a much greater influence in the choice.
Even though political parties are not a part of our Constitution nor our government, they have also come to play a predominant role in the election process. Years ago, the nominees of the parties were chosen by the parties themselves. That process has also evolved to today where the people choose the nominee through a primary process. This process has increased the power of the press even more.
The current nominee, Donald Trump, has stated that the press has manipulated the election process, or in his words the “press has rigged the election process.” In this regard, Trump is absolutely correct. The press has truly manipulated this election cycle, both in the primary and the general elections.
This election is unique in many ways, but none so in that we have not had for a long time if ever, two such terribly flawed candidates. The founders understood that our elected officials should be people of character and veracity. Neither of the current nominees meet these standards. The press has also played an increasing role in the election process, but with the advent of the 24-hour news cycle, they can manipulate opinion even more than in the past.
The vast majority of the press believes in the collectivist philosophy (Marxist, communist, socialist, progressive). Hillary believes strongly in this same philosophy. Trump is less of a collectivist than is Hillary, but still a collectivist. The press much prefers Hillary to anybody. The press could care less about the terrible flaws of Hillary. Remember, the collectivist believes in the “ends always justify the means” mentality. The press was going to do whatever they had to do to get Hillary elected.
The press saw in Trump, a very flawed and a very weak candidate, as did Hillary. Out of the 16 Republican candidates, Trump was certainly in the bottom six. Out of the 16, the press and Hillary knew that they had more dirt on Trump than perhaps all the other candidates combined. The press and Hillary understood that if Trump won the nomination to run against Hillary, that would virtually assure Hillary the presidency. What nobody knew at the time, however, was just what a poor candidate Trump would be. Nobody could guess that Trump would allow his thin skin to control him to the degree it has. Who would ever have thought that anybody would allow the situation with Miss Universe to dominate the news cycle for a weak. That domination was a direct result of Trump’s foolish actions and not the press.
The press has manipulated and rigged this election; Trump, you are correct. The press catered to and fawned over every word Trump said during the primary. The Trump played to the many weaknesses of Trump by treating them like strengths. The press treated Trump’s criticism of the other candidates as if there was validity in these criticisms. The press acted as if Trump won debates in the primary. The press did not illuminate to the public Trump’s limited ability to express himself, to form coherent thoughts, to speak knowledgeably on any topic of substance, to expose his progressive positions, or to speak of his immature behavior. The press achieved their goal; a Trump nomination.
Once the nomination was secured for Trump, the press turned on Trump like the vicious predators they are. Not only did they come out with what a rationale person would have to deem as being somewhat valid stories, but the press and Hillary were in such a strong position that they could come out with ridiculous claims such as the women being molested on the plane in first class by Trump. That claim was totally unbelievable. Never the less, it was given hours of press time. These claims, even the clearly flawed ones, gained traction because of Trump’s track record.
The press and Hillary understood that the lies, illegal actions, and poor judgements of Hillary would be exposed. They also knew that if Trump was the opponent, the press would be able to minimize or ignore these stories; like Hillary using the State Department for pay for play with the Clinton foundation, Hillary violating the National Security laws, Hillary’s role in the killing of four Americans at Benghazi, and on and on. The press and Hillary understood they could use the sensational stories on Trump to cover the lies and illegal actions of Hillary. The press and Hillary never knew how willing Trump would be to assist in this effort.
Today, we Freedom Loving Americans, we must understand that the election of Hillary would be far more devastating to our cause than would be the election of Trump. Today, we Freedom Loving Americans, we must understand that the press has manipulated and rigged this election in order to elect a true collectivist, Hillary. Today, we Freedom Loving Americans, we must understand that the founders fought against great odds to establish a nation built on the principles of individualism, rule of law, limited government, divided government, and rule by the people. Today, we Freedom Loving Americans, we must understand that regardless of the outcome of this election, we have a war facing us to assure freedom and liberty for ourselves and our posterity. Today, we Freedom Loving Americans, we must understand that the forces standing in the way of our success to restore the United States to that nation of freedom, independence, and self-responsibility which was established by our founders, are no greater for us than those forces standing in the way of our founders quest for the same. Today, we Freedom Loving Americans, we must understand that any effort or sacrifice we make in that quest is worthy of the cause.
