Our labor participation is the lowest it has been in three and a half decades. Many of those counted as employed are part time and more and more are becoming part time every day. More people are on disability then live in the New York City. The numbers of people and dollars spent on food stamps have more than doubled since 2008. The unemployment of the young is at record numbers and a lost generation is inevitable.
In every single experiment where a society has strived for an economically equal society, all people have been losers and especially those who were considered rich to the poor. Only the superrich survive economically, if they survive. The economic output of the nation has always drastically declined as has the living standards of the people. We see both of these situations already escalating. Equality is essential to any thriving and well-functioning society, but this means equal opportunity and equality under the law.
We now have a society that does not offer equal opportunity but says opportunity should be more available to minority groups as defined by politicians looking for votes. We have a regime that has no regard for rule of law but says it will arbitrarily enforce the law as it deems proper. Even more egregious, Obama and Holder have said what they declare to be law is the law and they and who they deem to be are above the law.
I would like to say we are in the early stages of a totalitarian state, but I fear we are well past the early stages.
