A true leader of a free and independent people must have a citizenry that is self-reliant and intellectually and financially independent. A strong leader of a free society will and must be honest and transparent with the citizenry. The strong leader will encourage discussion and thoughts and ideas different from their own. A strong leader of an independent people understands the strength of a free nation comes through diversity and not conformity. A strong and confident leader of a free people will always surround himself with other strong and independent people who will question him and bring an array of ideas.
The person in power, who will deliberately lie to fool people to accept his ideas and then lie about his lies, is not only a weak leader but exhibits characteristics of a dictator. The person in power, who will never take responsibility for his failures but takes all the credit for any success, is not only a weak leader but exhibits characteristics of a dictator. If this person says things like the buck stops with me but then explains the problem is really because of say the insurance companies or my predecessor, he is again exhibiting characteristics of a weak person who has characteristics of a dictator. A person in power, who states he knows what is best for people or what makes them happy, despite the people voicing the opposite, is exhibiting characteristics of a weak person and the characteristics of a dictator.
History has shown, when a free people look at a leader as a messiah as opposed to a human being and make excuses for and accepts the flawed characteristics as strengths, they are enabling that person to bring about the inevitable outcome. That inevitable outcome has always been the replacement of a free society with a totalitarian state. We must honestly look at the person currently in the White House and determine if he is a strong leader or a flawed person with the characteristics of a dictator. We must bring about an honest national discussion if we wish to return to a free society.
