When our founders formed our government, they understood that the government they were forming was the single biggest threat to the freedom they had just won. Don Jans
Everything the founders did when they drafted the United States Constitution was done with the intent of protecting their freedom and the freedom of all future generations of Americans. The founders fully understood that freedom is fleeting and only lasts as long as a virtuous electorate, elects virtuous people to office. Virtuous means having good moral qualities and behavior. Synonyms would include words like character, faith, morality, and righteousness.
In addition the founders understood that the hope of freedom being maintained rested on the continuation of a nation under rule of law, limited government, divided government, and rule by the people. It would be critical that citizens be educated in the meaning of these principles and why they were so critical to freedom.
Several things have happened over the years culminating in the crisis we now find ourselves. We American Citizens become less and less free every day. As our founders warned us, we have nobody to blame but ourselves. We have become void of virtue, abolishing all morality and religion. We do now accept arbitrary law, big government, concentrated power, and a sovereign government. We have allowed our system of education to become a system of indoctrination, indoctrinating our citizens that the Collectivism as taught by Marx, including his theory on abolishing long standing principles, morality, and religion, is the road to the nebulas goals of social justice and universal equality.
The actions of individuals and groups who advocate intolerance for free speech of all, those who advocate for violent assembly, and those who advocate for opposition for the sake of opposition are to blame. We have become a truly intolerant society to people with different labels, even when those policies on which we are advocating opposition are similar to our beliefs. We have truly become a nation of labels with the advancement of the power structure of the label far more important than the good of a nation. We are a nation of politicians and not statesmen.
An excellent example of this is Schumer proclaiming his absolute opposition to the Supreme Court nominee even before the nominee had been named. Ironically, many of those so vehemently opposed to the named nominee voted for his confirmation to the appellate court. This is truly advocating party over nation or politics over statesmanship. We find Schumer and many others of his party proclaiming the evil of the enhanced vetting of potential terrorists, only to learn they had supported a similar process a few years ago. This is truly advocating party over nation or politics over statesmanship. I read statements by people of the right who oppose those on the left, using just as inflammatory language and uneducated profane laden labeling as do those from the left exhibiting the same intolerance that is a part of the natural DNA of the left. The reason that has always been a hallmark of the right is quickly vanishing.
Very unsettling is the more and more frequent encouragement for and proclamation of the left that free speech and freedom to assembly include the lawlessness of riots and violence. This type of activity has never resulted in understanding between people nor has it brought an advance of freedom. It is a tactic used to bring about despotism and tyranny. We have seen advocating for and encouragement of violence by such national leaders like Obama and Holder.
Never however, have we seen such calls for violence to advance the leftist goal as blatantly as this:
A Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) congresswoman called the violent riots at the University of California-Berkeley a “beautiful sight.”
Rep. Val Demings (M/P-Fla.) made the comment during a congressional hearing on Capitol Hill.
“And so as we encourage our young people to get involved, I thought it was a beautiful sight,” Demings said, referring to the Berkeley riots.
“What also, as we encourage people to get involved, what directions and instructions and how can we have a more organized effort so that they can be a major tool in moving our agenda forward,” Demings added.
As was reported, around “150 masked agitators” threw fireworks, rocks and Molotov cocktails on the California public university campus ahead of a planned appearance by a conservative speaker. Rioters also smashed windows of the student union center, where the speaker was scheduled to speak on the issue of free speech.
We must elect various people to high office. We must practice and be tolerant of free speech. We must protect the right to peaceful assembly, not encourage violence and riots by thugs. What in fact Demings is advocating is despotism and tyranny, exactly the opposite of freedom. But then, that is the agenda she, along with her fellow Marxist/Progressives wishes to advance.
