Obama said Monday that Americans stand united in rejecting the targeting of any religious or ethnic group as he marked Islam's holy month of Ramadan.
"We affirm that whatever our faith, we're all one family," Obama said at the East Room dinner attended by about 40 members of the diplomatic community and a few members of Congress.
This is what Obama said to the Christians at the Prayer Breakfast:
At the Washington Prayer Breakfast, Obama noted that all religions had violent histories. Notably, he equated the Islamic State (also known as ISIS or ISIL) militants in the Middle East to the medieval-era Christian Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition that targeted non-believers.
"Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ," Obama said. "And in our home country, slavery, and Jim Crow, all too often was justified in the name of Christ."
In speaking to the Muslims, Obama stressed inclusion and acceptance. To the Christians, Obama made excuses for current acts of terrible violence by Muslim Jihadists by equating acts of violence and hate from centuries ago. Obama forgets that American Liberty and Freedom are based on the Bible and not on the Koran. Our laws are based on the Ten Commandments, not Sharia Law. Obama equated acts of ancient history to current acts to justify these current purveyors of hate. The only conclusion seems to be that Obama’s belief system is based on Sharia Law and not the United States Constitution and he was trying to justify his personal belief system.
