Why did the highly educated Germans embrace a lunatic like Adolf Hitler? The short answer is that bad policies caused economic, military and political crises – chow time for tyrants. German circumstances changed for the worse, and when people become angry enough or desperate enough, sometimes they’ll support crazies who would never attract a crowd in normal circumstances.
Hitler’s main talent seemed to be as a speech maker, so he began giving speeches that appealed to Germans embittered and disillusioned by the outcome of the war. He denounced Jews, capitalists and other alleged villains, vowing to rebuild a new Germany. Hitler maintained non-stop agitation. He traveled constantly, giving speeches throughout Germany. He wanted his opponents destroyed, so he demonized them. He accused them of being traitors. Two organizations, the S.A. and S.S., launched attacks on his opponents.
Hitler did not take over a small government with an effective separation of enumerated, delegated and limited powers. He took over a large welfare state. War-related private businesses were turned into government bureaucracies. The government shut down private businesses that officials considered unnecessary. There was forced labor, and nobody could change jobs without government permission. For the first time, this “war socialism” showed the world what a socialist economy would look like, and it became a model for Lenin and other communist theoreticians.
Although Hitler echoed Soviet-style central economic planning with a Four Year Plan, his method was suffocating regulation rather than outright expropriation. There was nominal private ownership but government control. Government control of the economy made it virtually impossible for anyone to seriously threaten his regime. Hitler added secret police, death camps and another war machine.
The German educational system, which had inspired so many American progressives, played a major role in all this. During the previous century, the government gained complete control of schools and universities, and their top priority was teaching obedience. The professorial elite promoted collectivism. The highest calling was working for the government. In 1919, sociologist Max Weber reported that “The honor of the civil servant is vested in his ability to execute conscientiously the order of superior authorities.”
Go back and reread this except substitute the name Obama for Hitler, American for German, and SS and SA for IRS and EPA. The similarities are striking.
Actions necessary to destroy the United States Constitution and bring about the totalitarian state necessary to complete the fundamental transformation include many actions of this regime. We have seen the bold faced lies of Obama and his henchmen continuously. I will not bore you with the many repetitive lies on Obamacare openly admitted to by Gruber. We see the manipulations of numbers continuously. The latest is the manipulation on the national debt when as of the last day of 2014, total US debt soared by $98 billion in one day (driven again by Social Security debt surging on the last day of the month to a record $5.117 trillion), and closing off 2014 with a new all-time high total of $18.141 trillion in Federal debt - an increase of $136 billion in the month of December and $790 billion for all of 2014. We saw similar games played with unemployment numbers prior to the 2012 election.
Obama and his regime, through their words and actions, have used unfortunate situations that were clearly non-racial to cause rioting in the streets and open attacks on law enforcement personnel including the assassination of two officers in New York. Joseph Goebbels explains these actions with his quote: “Whoever can conquer the street will one day conquer the state, for every form of power politics and any dictatorship-run state has its roots in the street.”
This is how tyrants throughout history have gained power. Hitler had some very skilled and dedicated followers that assisted him. Obama has some very skilled, dedicated, and ruthless followers; many of whom do not even understand or desire the inevitable outcome. If the person who becomes the eventual openly proclaimed tyrant turns out not to be Obama, this regime has played an enormous role in that event by the destruction of all the safeguards used by our founders to hopefully prevent that day from ever arriving.
