“If you’ve paid attention to the noise in Washington, D.C., you know all too well that our nation’s government is hopelessly divided.
Although some, such as the late William A. Niskanen—the former chairman of the libertarian Cato Institute and former member and acting chairman of President Ronald Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisers—celebrate the fractured state of politics, most of us decry the leadership’s unwillingness to do the public’s business.
Yet, the nation clings to stalemated politics. Of the 34 federal elections since the end of World War II, 21 have installed either a Democratic president and Republican-led Congress or, conversely, a Republican president and Democratic-led branch in Congress. Currently, the nation is in its fourth year of the most recent iteration of this trend, with the White House and Senate controlled by Democrats and the House of Representatives in the firm grip of the GOP.”
When in our history has our government not worked this way? That was how it was established. The founders could have established a parliamentary type government. They chose not to. Woodrow Wilson tried to have our government become more like a parliamentary government. He was rebuffed. We have a government that is divided and has been most of the time. Do you remember the first two years of this regime? Obama had rubber stamp Pelosi and rubber stamp Reid. Look we have now.
We have a $17.5 trillion dollar debt and growing. We have Obamacare which has proven to be the Number 1 job killer. We have Dodd-Frank that has not even begun to have its affect which is to regulate the financial institutions as if they were and arm of government and not independent institutions. We have an out of control IRS. We have an out of control EPA. We have a justice department that that will not enforce laws Obama does not like and insists on not investigating clear abuse of power.
This is why the founders established a government that can be split. Compromise is not always good, in fact most of the time it is not good. The last 50 years of compromise has taken us down the path to a Marxist Totalitarian government and society. We Freedom Loving Americans say no more compromise. It is time to turn the train around and start heading toward the station called Freedom. Will you Marxist/Progressives want to compromise when we are going in the correct direction? I fear not.
