Durbin went on to say "We’ve got to remember Putin developed his political finesse as the head of the Soviet secret police, and his idea of invading countries, occupying them and really daring people to go to war, those are the tactics of a bully.” Of course Putin is a bully and just like any bully he will take full advantage of a weak opponent. Putin knows full well his opponent, Obama, speaks loudly and boisterously but carries no stick.
John Kerry, our pathetic Secretary of State, stated in no uncertain terms that Putin should play nicely. We in the United States have rules against kicking the ball in kickball, it might hurt somebody. Instead we pick up the ball and walk nicely to the other people and touch them with the ball. This is the way we play in the 21st century, and Putin should also play nicely.
Durbin went on to say "But what Congress has to do, what the Senate should do, quickly, is a resolution condemning what Putin has done," Durbin said. "Second, saying if Ukraine will stand up for real reform, then we’re going to back them through the IMF, and making it clear to our allies and NATO that our alliance is strong and neighbors of Russia that we’re going to do everything on our part to discourage further aggression by Putin.”
Does Durbin know how stupid this statement is? First of all, Putin could care less what Congress does. Putin has no regard for Obama saying there will be costs, no regard for Kerry whining that Putin is not playing by the rules of the 21st century and no regard for any resolution by congress. So far as the people of Ukraine standing up for real reform, what does Durbin think has been taking place over the last several months? How much more can a people do than what the Ukrainian people have done to demonstrate resolve?
The resolve is on our part. A bully will always take advantage of foolish and weak people like Obama, Kerry and Durbin. We learned on the other hand, bullies will always respect and listen to strong people who do not make idle threats or talk to impress themselves. We learned this from strong people with character and clearly defined goals; Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Their purpose was to make the world safe for freedom and independence, unlike the goal of Obama and Durbin which is to transform a free and strong United States to a Marxist state adhering to the dictates of Marx both domestically and internationally.
