The San Antonio detective as well as officers in Missouri and Florida were conducting routine tasks Sunday when they become the targets of violence.
The detective was writing a traffic ticket when he was shot to death in his squad car late Sunday morning outside police headquarters. In St. Louis, Missouri, a police sergeant was shot twice in the face Sunday evening while he sat in traffic in a marked police vehicle. The sergeant is expected to survive.
Police officers were also shot and injured during traffic stops in Sanibel, Florida, and Gladstone, Missouri, on Sunday night, but authorities have not suggested these were targeted attacks.
The shootings come less than five months after a black military veteran killed five white officers at a protest in Dallas — the deadliest day for American law enforcement since Sept. 11, 2001.
Shooting deaths of law enforcement officers spiked 78 percent in the first half of 2016 compared to last year, including an alarming increase in ambush-style assaults like the ones that killed eight officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge.
Thirty-two officers died in firearms-related incidents so far this year including 14 that were ambush-style attacks. During the same period last year, 18 officers were shot and killed in the line of duty including three that were considered ambush attacks.
In July of 2009, Obama began his attack on police. Obama said that police in Cambridge, Massachusetts, "acted stupidly" in arresting a prominent black Harvard professor last week after a confrontation at the man's home.
"I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played," Obama said while taking questions after a White House news conference.
The police were found to have acted properly.
Obama said the shooting death of a black teen by a white police officer last in Ferguson, Missouri, exposed the racial divide in the American justice system that “stains the heart of black children.”
Speaking at the annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation dinner, Obama said the death of Michael Brown “awakened our nation” to a reality that black citizens already understood.
“In too many communities around the country, a gulf of mistrust exists between local residents and law enforcement,” Mr. Obama said. “Too many young men of color feel targeted by law enforcement — guilty of walking while black or driving while black, judged by stereotypes that fuel fear and resentment and hopelessness.”
The police officer in this incident was found to have acted in self-defense. Michael Brown was the aggressor.
Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening and invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA “Common.” Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the “burn[ing]” of then-President George W. Bush.
Obama invited Kendrick Lamar to the White House even though Lamar had performed at an awards show with two vandalized cop cars as his background.
The Black Lives Matter protest leader called for supporters to shoot police and run them over.
Black Lives Matter leader: Whatever you do, you pull your pistol out and f*cking bust them… Trust me when you see me move, I’m moving in violence. We need action. I don’t give a f*ck if you knock them over, whether you run up on them, whatever you do, you better f*cking take action.
Members of the #FYF911 or #FukYoFlag and #BlackLivesMatter movements called for the lynching and hanging of white people and cops. They encouraged others on a radio show Tuesday night to “turn the tide” and kill white people and cops to send a message about the killing of black people in America.
Obama meets with activists from the Black Lives Matter movement as well as a range of law enforcement officials and community leaders in what he called an "excellent conversation" amid a spate of violence between black communities and police across the country.
As police departments across the country geared up for more Black Lives Matter demonstrations, the White House called the street protests “a good thing.”
Obama has called for a war on the police. Holder has called for a war on police. Sharpton has called for a war on the police. Jackson has called for a war on the police. War on the police assists in the breakdown of society. Marxist/Progressives desire a breakdown in the existing society so they can rebuild a fair and just classless society as called for by Marx.
Obama has supported and encouraged all who would wage war on the police as have Holder, Sharpton, and Jackson. These Marxists have no concern for black lives or any lives that do not support their Marxist agenda. If these Marxists had any concern for Black Lives, they would be addressing the black on black killing in Chicago and all inner cities. If these Marxists had any concern for the Black community, they would be adamantly opposed to abortion. These Marxists are only concerned about fundamentally transforming the United States from a free nation to a totalitarian Marxist state that will bring about the “fair and just classless” society advocated by Marx.
