Again, Wasserman Schultz was unable to answer and tried to change the subject. “The relevant debate that we’ll be having over the course of this campaign,” she said, “is what’s the difference between being a Democrat and being a Republican.”
In November 2006 Bernie Sanders ran successfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Then-Senator Barack Obama, whom Sanders described as "one of the great leaders" of that legislative body, campaigned enthusiastically on Sanders's behalf. When a Washington Post reporter asked Sanders just prior to the election: "Are you now or have you ever been a Socialist?" Sanders replied, "Yeah. I wouldn't deny it. Not for one second. I'm a democratic Socialist."
There are no differences between a Democrat, a Progressive, and a Socialist.
The definition of SOCIALISM: (1839) word is born, 1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or government ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods 2a: a system or condition of society in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state 3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.
From the website of the Congressional Progressive Caucus which was started by Bernie Sanders when he was a Representative:
The Co-Chairs of the CPC--U.S. Representatives Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) and Keith Ellison (MN-05) welcome your interest in the caucus. Ellison is currently a leading candidate to be Chair of the DNC.
Our Caucus members promote a strong, progressive agenda, what we call “The Progressive Promise--Fairness for All”. The Progressive Promise is rooted in four core principles that embody national priorities and are consistent with the values, needs and aspirations of all the American people, not just the powerful and the privileged. They reflect a fundamental belief in government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
The four, core principles of the Progressive Promise:
1. Fighting for economic justice and security for all;
2. Protecting and preserving our civil rights and civil liberties;
3. Promoting global peace and security; and
4. Advancing environmental protection and energy independence
The CPC is committed to helping progressives, both inside and outside of Congress, to work together more effectively, in order to bring all of us closer to making good on The Progressive Promise.
There are currently 76 House Members who are members of the CPC. All of them are Democrats. There is one Senator, Bernie Sanders, Independent from Vermont.
The Socialist Party of America announced in their newsletter that 70 Congressional democrats belonged to their caucus.
American Socialist Voter–

The others were listed as well by name.
There is a strong socialist movement in the United States. It has permeated the halls of Congress and now resides in the White House. This strong socialist movement is promoted in Hollywood, the media, and all levels of our educational system. Most Americans, including those who profess it, do not understand the failures and dangers of this movement. To understand the failures and the dangers, a person only has to study the history of the Soviet Bloc, China, Cuba, and now Venezuela.
We Freedom Loving Americans will not overcome this dangerous movement through incendiary rhetoric. We will only overcome this dangerous movement by taking positive action. The first action we must take is to take control of our educational system from pre-school through higher education. We must refute this movement with the irrefutable facts of its failures. We must educate ourselves on these failures and dangers and become involved in all facets of government, opposing those who skillfully advocate this failed and dangerous movement.
We have neglected to become involved, other than with sarcasm, bumper stickers, and name calling. Now is the time to become adults. Sam Adams told us that we must work tirelessly in planting brushfires of freedom in the souls of others. This is our calling. Let us get to work. Learn the evil and understand the failure. Even if you think you understand, pretend like you do not and start to learn today. Then tomorrow, start skillfully planting brushfires of freedom in the souls of others.
