Those who look at the policy as a failure are measuring their critique on what would be considered long held standards. Is the United States the dominant country both economically and militarily? Do our enemies view us with respect and yes fear? Do our enemies understand that our “red lines” have meaning? Do our enemies understand they have the right to make choices, but those choices can have severe consequences? This is what Gadhafi learned when Ronald Reagan showed him he had crossed a “red line.” Do our friends understand they can rely on our promises and commitments?
This is and has been the foreign policy of those who have believed in the good of the United States. We showed the world that after you defeat a rogue country you do not take their land or punish their people but you help them build a strong and free society. This type of an attitude and policy had never been known before. True goodness done for the right reasons will often reward the giver. This happened to the United States as we became stronger and stronger economically and thus militarily.
Many people, generally those who followed the evil imperialist and capitalist theory put forth by Karl Marx detested the economically strong. Marx said the success and wealth came about only because the strong exploited the weak. Marx exclaimed that since the strong had stolen from the weak, they must share what they had so all would be equal. All countries were to share until all were equal. No border should prevent a worker from crossing into another country so they could do the work they desired.
When you measure success, you must look at the goals. When we understand the foreign policy goals of this regime, we can only concur that they have been successful in moving the United States closer to what they believe we should be. It is their goal to weaken us economically and militarily so we are no longer an imperialist nation. It is their goal to be sure we are not an exceptional nation but only a nation like any other. It is their goal to open our borders so people can freely cross into our country for any reason. It is their goal to systematically dismantle our military since the military enhances the evil capitalist system.
When we understand the real goals of the Obama regime, they have been very successful in their foreign policy as devastating as it is.
