This concept has greatly changed. Many Americans identify with their political parties first and place loyalty to the party above loyalty to the nation. We see this done every day. The discussions that take place today are about how an issue will affect the party, not how it will affect the nation and promote the principles upon which we were founded, freedom and independence.
Our citizens no longer identify themselves as American, but will now place some identifying adjective describing individual origin, such as African, Hispanic, Mexican, Islamic, and many others. Down through the ages, those who had immigrated to this land of freedom and opportunity, did all they could to assimilate into the culture of this unique country and they quickly identified as American. Those becoming a part of our society today no longer want to be a part of the American culture, but instead want to identify with and be a part of some foreign culture. A nation comprised of many different cultures with competing identities and conflicting loyalties will deteriorate. Only when differences of cultures are used to strengthen the whole, with common goals, does the nation become stronger. People within our nation who are considered to be leaders, are encouraging different groups to identify with these different group as opposed to identifying as American. This is being done not to strengthen the nation but to bring notoriety and wealth to these false leaders.
Along with this disloyalty to the nation of freedom and independence, the concept of honor and truthfulness has also evaporated from the highest echelons of our government. It is now accepted that any lie or deception can be told if it is deemed to be in the best interest of a party or identifying group. Deception and lies are accepted and expected in totalitarian states, perhaps even necessary for a functioning King, Emperor, or Czar. Deception in a free society, to others in government or to the people, is a very destructive force. Trust and respect for those servants in government by the sovereign or the people are critical.
Our founders said the reason they were risking everything, including their lives, was so that all citizens would have the rights of life and liberty that rightfully were theirs because they were given by the Creator and not by man. In addition, all citizens had the right to pursue happiness, but were not assured such. The founders went on to give future citizens a responsibility and a command when government took those rights from the people. Here is what the founders said in the Declaration of Independence:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
We the people have failed in our obligation to protect and safeguard the freedoms our founders secured for us. We no longer protect life and we have given away our liberty. We punish people who would pursue happiness and reward those who would not. No longer does the power flow from the people to the government, but it now flows from the sovereign government to the people who have become slaves to the commands of the government. This has come about because those who would lie and mislead for personal gain, have convinced citizens that they are not Americans, but some fractured element thereof. This has come about because we have accepted lies and deceit from those in government and do not hold these “servants” accountable for the good of the party and to the detriment of the nation.
Our current form of government has become destructive to the freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our current form of government has become destructive to the principle of government receiving its power from the consent of the people. We the people therefore have an obligation to alter or to abolish our current government and to institute a new one. If we do not start this revolution at the ballot boxes, it will be necessary to have an armed revolution, if we wish to establish a free and independent government as bequeathed to us by our founders.
I believe we can avoid the armed revolution by once again having a citizen government. This means starting to change our government now. We can start at the local level. We must rid all school boards, city, county, and state governments of any representative, regardless of party, who does not believe in the principles of freedom, independence, and a government of servants. We must rid these same governments of representatives who would lie and deceive. Yes this includes Mitch McConnell. This revolution has to continue to the ranks of the federal government as well. Any in government who would condone a government servant such as Lois Lerner lying to the Congress, must be gone; that means you Elijah Cummings. We must have the courage to put aside party loyalty and name those destructive people. No American, regardless of party should ever support a politician who has lied for any reason, who has put the interest of himself or party above the interest of the nation, and who enables and places the interests of enemies who have sworn to destroy us above the interest of our nation.
Our founders foresaw this development. If we believe in the Declaration of Independence, and value those freedoms, let us follow through on our declared obligations and responsibilities to replace a destructive government and restore freedom and independence, whatever is required.
