We have a nation today that is over $20 trillion in debt with half of that being accumulated in the last 8 years. We have a nation today that is being overrun by illegal aliens despite congress being given the specific duty of regulating the process of naturalization. We have today a nation who is not maintaining its military for the protection of the citizens as mandated by the constitution. We have today a nation with a huge government despite the specific efforts of the founders to have a limited government. We have today a nation whose power is concentrated in the judicial branch of government despite a constitution that established a divided government with checks and balances. We have today a government that takes from those who would work and give to those who would not despite their being no provision in the constitution for this happening and in spite of the founders telling us, “Democracy will cease to exist if you take from those who would work and give to those who would not.” We have a nation today that regulates every aspect of business including who must be hired, how much they must be paid, what fringe benefits they are to receive, and all this in spite of the fact that our nation was founded on the principles of free enterprise. We have today a nation that regulates the lives of the individual citizen despite a constitution that was established not for the government to restrain the people but for the people to restrain the government lest the government should dictate the lives and interests of the people. We have today a congress that has an approval rating in the single digits because it is not doing the job it was given to do in the constitution.
Congress has determined that it is within their power and purview to restrain the people and dictate the lives and interests of the people. Congress has decided it is in their power and purview to control and regulate companies. In a free enterprise system, this function is to be the power of the consumer. We saw for instance, the power of the consumer this fall as the television ratings of the NFL were way down. The reason for this drop is attributed to the consumer disagreeing with the way the NFL owners responded to the disrespect certain players showed for the National Anthem.
Our Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) and Republican establishment members of congress believe it is their job to do what the consumer should be doing while neglecting to perform their constitutional duties. In the powers outlined, for instance, we do not find that it is the job of congress to regulate the size and comfort of seats in a stagecoach. Marxist/Progressive Schumer called for congress to perform this critical function, but fortunately more sane members of congress did not agree.
Now we find the Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) members of congress calling on congress to again intrude on free enterprise (which they hate) and tell the airlines once again how to run their business. I would imagine some members of the Republican establishment will also get on the bandwagon since many of them agree with the Marxist/Progressives (Democrats) that congress knows better than the consumer.
One Marxist/Progressive (Democrat) lawmaker is calling for an investigation into United Airlines after a customer was dragged from the cabin of one of the company’s planes because it needed to make room for employees. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (MP) a member of the House Transportation Committee, is not satisfied with the way United dealt with the issue.
“I deplore the violent removal of a passenger from a United Airlines flight this weekend,” Norton said. It was reported. “Airline passengers must have protections against such abusive treatment.”
“I am asking our committee for a hearing, which will allow us to question airport police, United Airlines personnel, and airport officials, among others,” she continued, “about whether appropriate procedures were in place in Chicago and are in place across the United States when passengers are asked to leave a flight.”
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (M/P-Texas) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (M/P-Conn.) also expressed concern over the ordeal. Lee called for more information about the situation, and Blumenthal tweeted that “travelers should know their rights,” providing a link to a page on his website outlining “airline passenger protections.”
United Airlines has taken a terrible publicity hit on this topic. If the consumer is outraged enough, United will suffer the same fate the NFL suffered. The NFL has reversed its position. United will reform its handling of such incidents in the future, if the consumer demands they do so. That is the way the free enterprise system works. If the Marxist/Progressives (Democrats) and Republican establishment deem to become involved in a consumer matter again, as opposed to preforming their constitutional duties, the consumer will be the loser because when congress intervenes, it always means more intrusive government regulation with the people being the ultimate loser.
Marxist/Progressive (Democrats) and Republican establishment officials; you do your jobs and we the consumer will do ours. We want a free enterprise system, a limited government, a divided government, and not the protectionist regulations that take away the freedom of all. That is what you want, because you want a big government that restrains the people so you can become wealthy and powerful.
