The question that will be answered over the next several months is if these were just words of support for the constitution and the founding principles or were these people as serious about their ideas as Obama and the Marxist/Progressives are about theirs.
There are so many areas at which we could look that need changing but let’s look at a couple of the principles from 1776 and 1786 that if restored would go a long way toward bringing greatness back to the United States. The first principle is that ultimate power lies with the people and the states. The federal government was given 26 powers. All other power per the tenth amendment was reserved for the states and the people. The constitution does not give the power of education to the federal government. The Department of Education is not constitutional and according to the constitution should be abolished. All power over education should be restored to the states. The constitution does not give power of health coverage or care to the federal government. Any government involvement in health care and coverage should be sent back to the states. HHR is unconstitutional and should be abolished. The idea that the government should provide a safety net is totally contrary to the founders principles. Jefferson said, “The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” All welfare of any kind must cease to able bodied Americans who can work but do not. The list goes on and on. These newly elected people in essence said these powers would be given back to the states and the people; will they honor their commitment?
The founders warned us constantly about the evil of a big central government. After all, they were the victims of those evils and it drove them to revolt even though the odds of them being successful were very low. It was Thomas Paine who wrote that he would not surrender incentive for a dole. On the other side, Karl Marx said all aspects of production and all resulting income or the GNP should be centralized and then shared fairly according to needs and not production. This is what Obama and the Marxist/Progressives are attempting to do. This is exactly what the constitution and the founders opposed. This takes huge government to do. This can only be done through a totalitarian government that uses despotic means. Marx said this was true and it is what is happening. Our Declaration of Independence said we have a duty to revolt when and if our government went down that path. It has. Are we now in the revolt against big government? We will now learn how much of what these representatives of the people told us they really meant or were they just reciting words. Yes, we are playing with a better hand today than we were last week. Freedom Loving Americans must be even more diligent in our pursuit of returning to a nation where the power lies with the people and the government is a limited government.
